At first glance, custom power inverters and pre-designed power inverters can look roughly the same. But there’s often a significant difference in terms of construction materials, equipment certifications, and performance specifications, among other areas. If this is your first time shopping for custom power inverters, and you have some questions that need answers before you move forward with a purchase, the answers to the six questions below may be helpful.

1. Does custom equipment cost more than standard equipment?

In many cases, the answer is yes. However, using stock equipment when custom equipment is needed can cause the former to fail prematurely, which can make using standard equipment the least desirable financial option in the long run.

2. Does custom equipment have a longer lifespan than standard equipment?

Not necessarily. However, because custom inverters are designed to perform perfectly in relation to conditions in the operating environment, it isn’t uncommon to see them last a bit longer than standard inverters.

3. What is the turnaround time for a single custom power inverter?

It depends on the manufacturer. However, a professionally operated inverter manufacturer should be able to create the equipment in a few weeks, if not a few days. On the seller’s side, turnaround time depends largely on manufacturing capacity.

4. Does custom equipment come with a manufacturer’s warranty?

Most manufacturers of custom equipment provide the same warranty for the equipment that would apply to standard inverters. However, if you try to make customizations to the equipment on your own, you may end up partially of fully voiding the warranty.

5. Can custom equipment be designed to meet existing certifications?

Yes, customized inverters and other types of electricity conduction equipment can be designed to meet the requirements of important certifications such as NEBS Level 3, RoHS, and TUV – TL9000, just to name a few.

6. Does the seller provide technical assistance before / after the sale?

It depends on the seller. For example, a vendor that sells another company’s products typically doesn’t provide in-depth information that you could receive from the manufacturer. When it comes to receiving assistance, buying straight from the manufacturer is the best option.
