Many people wonder what the difference between a generator and AC inverters is. Some assume that both are the same when they are wrong. 

The only similarity between the two is that they provide a temporary source of energy during power outages. They are both also useful when you need an alternative power source. Otherwise, there’s lots of difference between the two. 

AC inverters immediately provide stored electricity 

For one, AC power industrial inverters store doesn’t produce any electricity, but they store power in their batteries. The energy is stored as DC after first converting the alternating current it gets from mains when it’s getting charged. 

However, AC industrial power inverters only store power as direct current. The DC power is immediately converted to AC when switched on to power your appliances. There is no time interval in between because the conversion is immediate. Besides, everything is automatic, and there’s no need for any manual start. 

Generators burn fuel to produce electricity 

However, diesel generators do not store any electricity. They, as the name suggests, burn fuel to generate electricity once it’s switched on to power your appliances. So yes, there is no automatic switching on of generators. 

It has to be switched on to provide power. This is why there usually is a time lag in between the starting and receiving of backup power during a power outage.  

It’s the automatic transmission of power during outages, thus providing uninterrupted backup power that makes AC power industrial inverters a more convenient power option during power outages. 

There is minimal downtime, and most important, there’s no stress of having someone present to start the inverter at the critical moment when there’s no power.
